My name is Freya Pettigrew and I am 17 years old. My blog is all about the crafty, arty stuff I like to get up to when I have the time!
For me, this blog is about sharing what I love in an intentional way. I find it more gratifying taking the time to write posts as opposed to uploading photos and videos to Instagram. If you take a look around, you’ll find posts about art and sewing and other such crafty stuff, either as tutorials or just me writing about it.
I’m always keen to hear what people think of my work, so feel free to drop a comment!
If you’re wondering about my blog name, here is why I’ve chosen to call it “The August Cherry Tree”:
On my birthday, 8th of August, my Mum and Dad planted a shidare-zakura (weeping cherry tree) in the garden for me. My granny chose a cherry tree to symbolise the time my parents spent in Japan, and where my mother was pregnant with me. The cherry tree means a lot to me and is an important symbol in my life. The blossoms are small but beautiful and remind me how good things come in small packages and how a small girl like me can create good things.
So there you go!
